Alleged wildlife hunting offenses jail two

Two Oconee County men are being accused by the state wildlife department of hunting offenses on Thanksgiving Day.  According to authorities, the state DNR arrested Westminster area residents Thomas Levi Alexander and Samuel Joseph Turner.  Arrest records identify the charges against Alexander as open container in motor vehicle and night hunting for deer or bear first offense; against Turner as open container in motor vehicle and night hunting prohibited first offense.  A spokesman for the South Carolina DNR said one of its officers observed a spotlight from a motor vehicle, constituting the offense of night hunting.  The DNR’s David Lucas said one .243 rifle was confiscated.
