All reservoirs above “full pool”

Water releases are continuing through the turbines at the Savannah River dams at what the Army Corps of Engineers says is a high rate. All reservoirs are above full pool and are expected to stay that way for several days. The near-record rainfalls of late have accomplished more than topping off the reservoirs. They have loosened walkways, caused trees to collapse into the water and, generally, increased the number of hazards in local waters—lakes Hartwell, Thurmond and Russell.
