Alan Sweney

Seneca – Alan Dale Sweney, 72, husband of Cynthia Black Sweney of 53 years, passed away on Sunday, March 17^th, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

 

Born August 18^th, 1951, in Seneca, South Carolina, Alan was the son of the late Johnny Lawrence and Evelyn Thrasher Sweney.  Alan was a United States Army Veteran, a member of Utica Baptist Church, retired from Duke Energy after 38 years, and an active board member of Southern Four Wheel Drive Association.

 

Alan is survived his wife, Cynthia Black Sweney; daughters, Tammy Lee and husband Wilson of Greenville, South Carolina, Amanda Fowler and Chad Brawn of Sandy Springs, South Carolina; sister, Susan Brock of Seneca; four grandchildren, Braeden Bensch (Cole), Kyler Fowler, Parker Fowler, and Charley Lee.

 

Alan is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Johnny Michael Sweney, and a granddaughter, Landyn Fowler.

 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 21^st, 2024 at Oconee Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with inurnment to follow, with full Military Honors.  

 

The family is at their respective homes.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Alan’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.
