The Oconee coroner says a young West Union motorcyclist died in a crash early today in Westminster. The deceased was identified by Coroner Karl Addis as 20-year old West Union resident, Nevan Matthew Hopkins. The incident occurred around 12:30 this morning at E. Main and S. Hampton streets. Preceding the motorcycle crash, Addis said, a state trooper started a pursuit — a pursuit in which an Oconee deputy later took part. According to the coroner, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case.
