After guilty verdict, the sentence is three years

A jury found Sage Hernandez guilty today on a lesser charge than that on which he stood trial this week in the Oconee General Sessions Court.  Hernandez, 29, stood trial on the charge of domestic violence high and aggravated; the jury found him guilty of what’s called a lesser included offense—domestic violence 2nd degree.  And, for that, assistant solicitor Beth Blundy said the sentence was three years in prison.  The jury heard testimony of a quarrel outside the victim’s home in 2019 that left the victim, Katelyn LaFollette, with multiple injuries requiring hospital treatment.  From both sides, there was conflicting testimony as to whether Hernandez struck LaFollette with his Honda car or whether LaFollette jumped onto the car.  The two had had a relationship that broke up months earlier.
