ADA violations alleged in lawsuit

A lawsuit has been filed in Oconee County on behalf of a former employee of the Pioneer Rural Water District.  The complaint for William Allan Mason alleges violations by the PRWD of the ADA—the American Disabilities Act.  It alleges that after undergoing brain and neck surgery about seven years ago, Mason requested and received an accommodation about two years ago for his disability by moving away from ditch work to a position less demanding physically.  But in January this year, the lawsuit alleges, Mason was again placed on after-hours ditch call, in addition to his then current job of service calls and locates.  A month later, it alleges, he was terminated amid—what the lawsuit calls—“a series of false and pretextual accusations sent to Plaintiff via text message.”  Requested is a jury trial to decide damages and Mason’s request to be re-instated.
