Active shooter drill was a learning experience

The Walhalla police chief says a recent active shooter drill conducted at the Oconee Department of Social Services on Kenneth Street proved to be a valuable lesson for all who took part. Chief Sean Brinson says his officers frequently receive calls to go to the DSS offices, so the conduct of an exercise in which there was a make-believe shooter incident there helped both police and DSS workers prepare in case there is a real one there someday. In one part of the exercise, a DSS worker called 9-1-1 and that experience, according to Brinson, gave the state worker an example of what it might be like to have to call for help in an emergency.
