“Absentee voting through the roof”

“Absentee voting is through the roof” is what the state election commission spokesman said today to an Oconee County Zoom audience.  Christ Whitmire appeared on an Oconee Chamber of Commerce news program, hosted by JoAnn Johnson.  According to Whitmire, the large numbers of voters choosing to vote absentee are directly attributable to the decision to open absentee voting to all registered voters, in light of COVID-19.  Voters may pick one of three ways to make their preferences count June 9:  vote absentee by mail, vote absentee in-person, or vote on Election Day.  But Whitmire stresses that time to vote the mail option is fast running out, as Election Day is two weeks off.  He urges those who are pursing this option to quickly begin the process which requires a mailed application, followed by filling out the ballot and returning it by mail.
