A roundabout proposed in rural Anderson County

Roundabouts, or traffic circles, are common on the British Isles.  Not so common here, although, in spots, South Carolina motorists have begun to adjust.  A new roundabout is proposed at a rural Anderson County intersection. The DOT proposes a roundabout to improve the intersection of US 178 (Liberty Highway) and SC 88 (Old Greenville Highway Extension) in Anderson County. The proposed project would convert an existing 4-way stop intersection to a roundabout that will meet current design requirements, eliminate crossing conflicts, and improve safety.  Members of the public are invited to an information meeting next month in Liberty where DOT staff will answer questions and discuss the project.  The meeting will be 5 to 7 pm Thursday, August 15 in the cafeteria at the Pickens County Career and Technology Center.
