A potential spike to South Carolina COVID-19 cases

South Carolina DHEC cautions that the state, for the next couple of days, could see a spike in cases of COVID-19.  Yesterday’s count was 142, nearly 100 fewer than the previous day’s.  However, DHEC yesterday reported that a private lab submitted about a one month history of positive test results for Greenville County residents, causing a spike in the number of Greenville County cases.  “This,” says DHEC, “will potentially continue to be reflected as elevated case counts for the next couple of days as DHEC verifies and confirms these cases for public reporting.”  Yesterday’s report details three additional South Carolina deaths of residents from Greenville, Florence, and Clarendon counties–all elderly persons.  The number of new cases included two in Oconee, four in Pickens, and four in Anderson.  Oconee’s running total of cases is now 24.
