A new look in downtown Seneca

City administrator Scott Moulder and mayor pro tem Ronnie O’Kelley had an extra kick to their gait as they entered the city council’s November meeting. They had just taken a quick look at changes to one block of E. Main Street, between Depot and N. Townville. A storefront that once was a drug store is being renovated for a women’s clothing boutique. And city workers have started to dismantle parts of the former Harper’s 5 and 10 acquired thru court proceedings involving the family of the late Efford Haynes. Tours of both the former Harper’s and the former Kimbrell’s stores will give city leaders a better idea of what they now have, as well as some immediate repairs that are required. All of this is preliminary to what the city will eventually do with the properties, although it’s expected whatever is built there is to fit in with the city’s vision for a vibrant downtown area.
