A 30-day adventure across South Carolina’s outdoors

The start point for a 30-day outdoor adventure across South Carolina  will be Oconee County, with an emphasis on two of the state’s seven wonders.  On Thursday, July 1 the South Carolina 7 (SC7) Expedition Team will start exploring the state’s mountains to the sea.  They’ll be raising awareness of floodwater prevention and engaging leaders and citizens to protect and enjoy the natural resources.  Two of what are considered the state’s wonders are located in Oconee County:  the Chattooga River and the Jocassee Gorges.  An Oconee State Park event with State Senator Alexander,  Lt. Gov. Evett and, possibly, Gov. McMaster will kickoff the 30 days.  The next night at the Walhalla Performing Arts Center Tom Mullkin, the expedition leader, will introduce a one-hour documentary on the seven wonders and the local impact of a changing climate.  On Friday, July 2 the SC7 team will explore Stumphouse Tunnel, Issaqueena Falls, and hike the 3-mile Ross Mountain passage trail.
