A 2-point gain for Oconee public schools

On a statewide grading system of the quality of public education, the Oconee School District scored a 52 on a scale from zero to 100. The student achievement gradings under the framework of a federal law are designed to provide an accounting of the public schools. The school report card data are available today on the School Report Card page on the website of the state Department of Education. For 2017-18, the Oconee district had one school ranked excellent, four ranked good, and nine ranked average. Two schools fell below average.  For the 2018-19 year, the district improved two points to an average score of 52.  Twelve schools maintained or improved their ratings, four schools saw a drop.  The district had two schools receive excellent ratings — Ravenel Elementary and Walhalla High.  Both schools are in the top 75 in the state at their levels, with Ravenel in the top 10.5%.  Fair-Oak saw the largest improvement, with a 20-point jump, moving from below average to good.  Overall, the district had two schools ranked excellent, eight ranked good, three ranked average, and one unsatisfactory.
