Voter turnout campaign

In the 2020 election, 73% of registered Oconee voters cast ballots.  Two groups believe the numbers can go higher.  Oconee Public Library and the League of Women Voters in Oconee-Pickens (LWV) have begun a countywide voter education and registration campaign to target the 27% who didn’t vote and the number of eligible county residents who are not registered.  Friday, October 4 is the deadline to register.  Volunteers from both the LWV and the library also are spreading the word about the League-maintained website VOTE411.com.  It contains answers to questions:  location of your voting poll, registration status, copy of the ballot, along with candidate responses to questions posed by LWV members. The League of Women Voters Oconee and Pickens is a non-partisan organization, dedicated to citizen education and engagement.  It does not directly, or indirectly participate in, or intervene in, any political campaign on behalf (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office.
