Oconee County Council Talks Truck Purchase, Grants Easements, and Upgrades Voting and Data Systems

The Oconee County Council began its Tuesday meeting by removing items from the agenda, including an executive session to discuss litigation related to general obligation bond expenditures and a request to apply for the S.C. Opioid Recovery Fund, both of which were deemed premature.

Vice Chairman Don Mize of Seneca and the council unanimously passed the first reading of an ordinance to finance and purchase six new Freightliner tanker trucks for up to $3,380,000, intended for rural districts.

In other business, the council approved granting easement rights to Duke Energy, funds for voting equipment batteries, and a digital data storage upgrade for the county detention center.
