Early return home from the hospital

Lucia Gonzales, associate director of research for the Clemson School of Nursing, is working with nurses from Prisma Health to revamp the process of discharging patients so they can go home or move to a rehabilitation center earlier in the day.  Most hospital discharges happen in the afternoon or late evenings, making it a challenge for patients to get home sooner and fill new medications the same day of discharge.  And it costs more to keep patients longer than they need.  The research team at work on this includes Allison Taylor of Clemson University and Kristen Dickens, Kristi Coker, and Veronica Deas of Prisma Health.
