Foundation grant to save animal lives

An $80 thousand grant from the William H. Donner Foundation will be used to save animal lives in Oconee County, according to an announcement by the county Humane Society.  The grant is to support the Oconee Humane Society Pet Food Pantry and the Pet Care Clinic.  Dr. Paul Black, board member, says the $80 thousand will meet the specific medical or surgical needs of shelter pets and enhance their adoptability.  And it’s going to mean additional dog and cat food at no charge for low-income pet owners. The William H. Donner Foundation is family foundation that was established by William Henry Donner after the death in 1929 of his son, Joseph, from lung cancer.
