Hit-run case involved a northeast Georgia monument

A loud crashing sound heard early Friday in downtown Lavonia, Georgia, the police say, was a truck striking the Eagle monument, directly across from the police station.  A Texas man, Richard Bullock, is quoted by the investigating policeman that around 4 o’clock in the morning he swerved to miss a pothole, lost control of his Chevy truck, but denied hitting the statue.  Nevertheless, according to the police, driver Bullock was charged with hit-and-run, and duly striking a fixture.
