Oconeean charged with impersonating a lawyer

A 30-year-old Oconee County man has been arrested by the state police on multiple charges, including the charge of the unauthorized practice of law.  The arrest of Nathan Lee Chambers took place Wednesday and he was booked into the Greenville Detention Center, according to the announcement by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.  Besides unauthorized practice of law, Chambers was charged with forgery and misrepresentation of being a lawyer to solicit business and provide legal advice.  The arrest warrant affidavit for the charge of practice of law without a license accuses Chambers of the following:  “Between the dates of June 4, 2023, and November 14, 2023, in the county of Greenville, one Nathan Lee Chambers did commit the crime of Law/Practice of law without license in that the defendant, who is not a member of the South Carolina Bar or other otherwise authorized to perform legal activities by action of the Supreme Court of South Carolina, did commit the offense of Unauthorized Practice of Law when he filed legal documents and motions with the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office on behalf of a criminal defendant….”
