State levies penalty against Oconee manufacturer

A penalty of $9,250 has been placed by the state against Itron Manufacturing of West Union, according to a document published by South Carolina DHEC.  According to one of the administrative orders to be considered by the DHEC board this week, an inspection on December 6 revealed an alleged violation of the South Carolina Hazardous Management Act – one of which is an allegation that Itron failed to submit to local emergency responders—what DHEC calls—a quick reference guide of the contingency plan.  Since then, however, according to DHEC, Itron has submitted the guide for department review.
