Anderson County drowning under investigation

The body of a 33-year-old Piedmont, South Carolina man was pulled from the Saluda River just after the noon hour today, and the coroner says an investigation is underway.  Greg Shore, the Anderson County coroner, says Cody Alexander Coleman died after jumping into the river as he was being chased by county deputies.  Shore says preliminary investigation shows Coleman’s vehicle collided with a second vehicle just before 11 am on River Road in Piedmont.  After the accident, Coleman is believed to have run and jumped into the Saluda where he swam about 200 yards, went under, and never resurfaced.
