Pursued car clocked above 100 MPH, the police say

The Walhalla police say they clocked a speeding car as high as 106 miles an hour – a Friday evening incident that forced other drivers to hug the shoulders of the highway before the chase ended and the police had the driver in custody.  Police Chief Tim Rice says multiple charges have been placed against 29-year-old Hartwell, Georgia resident McKenzie Lee Olaes.  They include charges of reckless driving, failure to stop for a blue light, along with assault and battery third degree.  Because two small children were found in the vehicle improperly restrained, according to Rice, the police summoned DSS and the state agency placed the children into protective custody while Olaes was sent to jail.
