Oconeeans invited to speak out on county spending
High atop Tuesday’s agenda for Oconee County Council is a public hearing on the council’s new spending plan. Before the council takes a final vote on what now is a $60 million-plus measure, its members will entertain comments on what it’s going to take to fund a new year of county government in 2023-24, starting July 1. There are varied other matters to occupy the county fathers’ attention Tuesday including “Council consideration and approval of the issuance of a Request for Proposals for A Comprehensive Wage and Comp Study for Oconee County” along with economic development matters code-named “Project Iron Man”, “Project Ship”, and “Project Parallel”. The county typically applies code names to economic development matters while they remain in the negotiation stage.
