The cost to pipe water beyond city limits

On the part of Westminster’s elected leaders, there appears consensus that the high cost of water service outside the corporate limits will require higher customer charges.  The city council last night gave preliminary approval to charging more to its outside customers.  Kevin Bronson, city administrator, predicted that if, finalized, the rate increase will show up on March 1 bills.  At the same time, the council plans to remove from bills a $7 dollar monthly meter fee.  One estimate heard at last night’s meeting is that, minus the meter charge, the increase to an outside customer, based on the use of five thousand gallons, will be no more than $1.35 cents a month.
