Walhalla High a “Champion of the Environment”

A commitment made by Walhalla High School to the environment has caught the attention of the state health agency and resulted in an award to the school.  DHEC has included the high school as one of 11 schools in the state to receive environmental steward awards.  “Champions of the Environment” awards are issued each year to foster environmental action in the state’s classrooms, from kindergarten through the 12th grade.  Teachers apply for grant funding by outlining their education project that focuses on pollution or waste reduction, water or energy efficiency, or preservation of natural areas.  Walhalla High is a certified Green Steps School.
