Changes at the recycling centers

Oconee County Recycling Centers will no longer accept certain recyclable materials. This is a temporary measure. Effective Monday, March 23, 2020, Oconee County Recycling Centers will no longer accept plastic, glass, paper products, or aluminum cans for recycling. These items require manual sorting, and viruses may cling to surfaces for an extended period of time, putting staff at risk for exposure to COVID-19 or Coronavirus. The Recycling Centers will continue to accept regular household garbage, cardboard, scrap metal, and tires. Oconee Recycling Centers will maintain customary hours of operation: Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Recycling Centers are closed Wednesdays and Sundays. Normal operations and the acceptance of plastic, glass, paper products, and aluminum cans will resume once the threat of the COVID-19 or Coronavirus has passed and Oconee County will continue to provide additional information as the situation evolves. Please be patient as County staff are doing the best they can to continue to serve as best and as safely as they can.
