56-year old man drowns in pond

A man near Easley died over the weekend after falling into a small pond at his home.  The Anderson County coroner, Greg Shore, has ruled the death of Charles Jeffrey Shockley an accidental death from freshwater drowning, and there’s no indication or evidence of foul play.  Public safety responders went to Quail Trail in Easley around 8:40 am for a body found in a small residential pond.  The coroner’s deputy, Don McCown, said Shockley apparently left his home around 11:30 Friday night and was walking around the pond when he disappeared.  His family could not find Shockley and reported him missing.  The next morning neighbors who had gone fishing at the pond found the body.
