477 golf carts in Clemson, at least

The Clemson police hope a stronger golf cart law would avoid a tragedy.  The city’s police advisory board was told last month that 477 golf carts are registered in the city.  Capt. Culbreath’s hope is that a new registration for golf carts, a sticker, would allow the police to differentiate who should and should not be operating golf carts inside the city.  At Homecoming last year, a golf cart full of college students rolled over on College Avenue.  State law forbids golf carts on roads with speed limits above 35 mph.
