44 additional South Carolina cases

South Carolina DHEC is investigating 44 additional cases of the COVID-19 novel coronavirus.  Statewide the total number is 342 in 36 counties.  “As the number of cases and community spread expectedly increase in our state, we reiterate the importance of taking daily preventive practices to protect yourself and your community,” said Dr. Jonathan Knoche, DHEC physician.  “We all have the responsibility to protect ourselves, our families, friends and community.”  In this latest report, there are no new cases listed for Oconee and Pickens counties.  There is one in Anderson. Cases are reported based on the individual’s county of residence, as it is provided to DHEC.  Individuals with signs of illness are asked to stay at home and not attend public gatherings.  South Carolinians are encouraged to monitor symptoms, practice social distancing, avoid touching frequently touched items (like doorknobs and handrails), and regularly wash their hands, especially after being in a public place.  The situation lends itself to the potential for feelings of stress and anxiety, so don’t hesitate to try to reach a mental health professional if needed.
