4-Hers put wildlife habitat knowhow to test

Four Oconee County youngsters got the chance this summer to put to test their knowhow about wildlife habitats.  4-H members Sophie Cox, Chase Land, Sarah Ebenhack, and Shawn Underwood made a mark on a national stage of the National Wildlife Habitat Education Program.  The competition took place last month in Junction City, Kansas. They were part of a South Carolina FFA team that included student members from Pendleton High School.  The Kansas setting is part of that state’s Flint Hills region, home to the first land-grant university in the country.  Clemson University, as the primary land-grant institution in South Carolina, is tasked with improving the quality of South Carolinians’ life by providing unbiased, research-based information through outreach programs, such as 4-H.
