30-year prison sentence in Pendleton homicide case

A guilty plea in Anderson has resulted in a 30-year prison term for a man who admitted guilt in the death of a Pendleton man in 2017. Judge Sprouse ordered the prison sentence be served by Ahmad Neely, who pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, criminal conspiracy, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. An account released by the 10th Solicitor’s Office stated that Charles Hillery, who lived in a home on Pendleton’s Robinson Street, was stabbed 28 times by Neely. According to the prosecution, Neely and four other people conspired to go to the home that Hillery shared with another individual for the purpose of robbery.
