25-year old jailed after police chase

A 25-year old man from Charleston sits in the Oconee jail having been ticketed four times by law enforcement as part of an investigation from an attempted traffic stop yesterday morning in the southern part of the county.  Tickets issued to Bradon Lee Ashley Potter allege driving under suspension, failure to stop for a blue light, operating an uninsured vehicle, and operating an unregistered vehicle.  Jimmy Watt, spokesman for the sheriff’s office, says Potter is under a temporary custody order while warrants for other charges are obtained.  A deputy followed a blue hatchback from a highway 24 intersection, a pursuit that ended on Deer Knoll Drive off highway 59.  Eventually, there was a foot chase and the driver was apprehended.  A second officer on his way to the scene crashed his patrol SUV into a Deer Knoll Drive tree and was hospitalized with several injuries. This afternoon the sheriff’s office announced two additional charges against Potter.  They are drug offenses.  One of them being possession of less than one gram of methamphetamine.  According to the sheriff’s office, small bag containing a white crystal substance fell from the arrested man’s pant leg.
