$1M in state funds committed to 2 Oconee road projects

One million dollars of state “C” money was committed yesterday to re-surfacing sections of two Oconee County roads. One is in the Seneca area; the other, in the southern part of the county. The work is planned on the Isbell Road near s. highway 11—a road that “C” funds member Tally Grant says sees a lot of log and poultry trucks. The other project will widen and re-surface part of Radio Station Road from the Wells Highway to the Radisson Road. The county’s “C” Fund committee approved the expenditure. To its chairman, Sam Dickson, the committee has the money in the bank and there’s no reason to keep it there, considering there’s a crying need to continue to fix roads across the county. There’s a possibility that the projects will be bid to contractors later this year, but the work might not start until next spring.
