13 pages of county delinquent tax properties

Amanda Brock, Oconee County administrator, acknowledges there are additional properties in the packet for today’s annual delinquent tax sale.  And, she says, COVID and the hard economic times are likely to be factors contributing to that.  It’s a well-attended sale—with potential bidders parking cars, trucks, and even a motorcycle in the parking lot of the Center for Performing Arts Center, as well as along the streets in PAC vicinity.  The proceeds of the sale are used to satisfy property taxes, and that can be a sad thing when some property owners are forced to subject what they owe to a public auction.  The successful auction bidders do not immediately acquire the property they bid for successfully.  By law, the property remains in the ownership and possession of the defaulting taxpayer throughout a redemption period.
