Young Oconeean bound for national political meet

A young Oconee woman, Cody Hunter, has been elected as a delegate to this summer’s Democratic National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Hunter is a PhD student at Clemson University and she will go into the national convention as a committed delegate to Bernie Sanders.  However, Joe Biden is seen as his party’s presumptive nominee for president. State Democrats affirmed the choice of Hunter and other delegates from the state during their virtual convention.  “We’re very proud of her,” says Jody Gaulin, new chairwoman of the Oconee Democratic Party.  It’s rare that any Oconee Democrat is representing her party at the national level, especially since the county switched from a blue county to a red county in the early 1990s.
