With a lot of help, food giveaway was a success

Thanks to a number of businesses and individual donors, last Saturday’s food giveaway in Westminster was a major success.  Some 150 boxes of food were given away in one hour.  This was a satisfying event especially for Charles Mulwee Sr., the founder of Community Tree Center at 200 E. Main Street. Mulwee and his helpers were able to box items that included bread, apples, bananas, oranges, dried fruit, macaroni & cheese, bags of rice, powdered milk, tin cans of vegetables, and cans of Roman noodle and chicken noodle soups. Before they even started, cars were lined up on the street and around a corner. Mulwee’s operations are headquartered in Westminster, but its outreach is for all Oconee County residents in need.
