Westminster in land-buying mood

After a closed-door meeting this week, Westminster agreed to make an offer for privately-owned land to expand the city’s recreation offerings. Mayor Brian Ramey says the council directed its administrator to negotiate for the purchase of 64 acres that border Hall Street, home of the city’s recreation fields. The property adjoins 15 city-owned acres, and the mayor envisions access to the properties from both Hall Street and the Clearmont Road. Two council members voted against pursuing the deal—Susan Ramey and Yousef Mefleh.
