Victim of fatal auto-pedestrian incident had Oconee ties

A young man killed in a Sunday night incident on I-26 in Spartanburg County had ties to Oconee County and is being remembered today by a business associate.  State troopers say the victim was Chris Campbell, 33 years old, husband of Emily Alysse Porter of Tamassee. They say an eastbound white SUV hit Campbell and then left the scene.  Campbell was a navy veteran and served in Operation Enduring Freedom, in response to the 9-11 attacks. His business associate, Frank Campanaro, says Campbell served as president of Walhalla-based ADC—Advanced Defense Components, maker of parts for the Defense Department.  The funeral for Christopher Terrell Campbell will be 2 pm Thursday at Bountyland Baptist Church; the burial in Heritage Memorial Gardens.  The family receives friends from 5 to 7 pm today at the church.  The family encourages the wearing of masks during the services.
