Updating two Oconee highway projects

A box culvert has been installed as part of the 123 roadside repair project between Westminster and the Georgia line, and the DOT says a stream of water is running through the culvert.  Alan Adams, DOT resident construction engineer, says, “The contractor has begun to clean up the sediment on the upstream end and should be finished with that in a couple of days.  They have also started to backfill over the pipe to build the embankment.”  Meantime, a separate contractor has a schedule for a major 123 re-surfacing from Westminster to the area of the Oconee Country Club.  Marty McKee, vice president of King Asphalt, says, “The tentative schedule for the work on this 6.76 mile section is to begin July 8 and complete all of the work around Nov. 19th.  There are a lot of different items of work to be completed on this section of the contract.”
