The Hesters are experienced trail hikers

Two Beaufort, South Carolina residents have embarked on their fourth hike of the Palmetto Trail.  They are Bernie and April Hester.  We have word that the Hesters hiked the area of Stumphouse Tunnel near Walhalla today and are planning to spend the night at the Oconee State Park at Mountain Rest.  The husband and wife were named Palmetto Trail Ambassadors three years ago.  Part of the reason they adventure outdoors is to bring awareness to MS, multiple sclerosis.  Mrs. Hester suffers from MS and, through the journey, hopes they can inspire others afflicted by the incurable disease.  It’s believed that each week about 200 MS cases are diagnosed.
