South Carolina COVID numbers Friday-Sunday

It would be no stretch to say that the numbers from the state health agency were all over the page for the last three days.  But the Department of Health and Environmental Control blames a delay in the arrival of electronic laboratory reports.  Here are some of the highlighted figures:  For Friday, there were 256 new COVID cases statewide; for Saturday, 649; and for Sunday, 619.  New Oconee County cases were 3 on Friday; 71 on Saturday; and 65 yesterday. New documented South Carolina deaths were 12 on Friday; 31 on Saturday; and 12 on Sunday.  The positivity test percentages were 15.6 Friday; 32.6 Saturday; and 11.8 Sunday.  DHEC announced 23, 902 COVID-19 cases were updated and reflected in its online dashboard by the date the result was reported to the health care provider.  That number includes 22,423 negative tests and 1,479 positive test results.  The delay in the electronic lab reports occurred from September 24-October 2 and did not impact patient notification of their test results.  Following standard practice, test results continued to be reported back to health care providers and relayed to patients.  According to DHEC, the issue has been resolved and normal reporting will resume.
