Six Seneca children in protective custody, mothers arrested

Six young children in Seneca are in protective DSS custody. The police arrested the mothers on neglect charges. The case started on Wednesday when a police officer was asked to assist a DSS worker at an apartment unit off Lindsay Road. The officer quoted the DSS worker as saying that thru a window she could see the children, from the ages of eight months to three years, but could not get an adult to answer the door. Eventually, their mothers returned to the apartment and the police, based on conditions in the apartment, called for emergency protective custody for the children. The police identified the mothers arrested as Karrie K. Barnes and Brittany Downs, both of the same address.
