Seneca mayor responds to Floyd death and protests

On behalf of the city council, here are excerpts from a statement issued yesterday by Seneca Mayor Dan Alexander:  “The City of Seneca, its elected officials, management and staff all share in the anger and anguish many are feeling across the country after the death of George Floyd.  Our police officers are sworn to be protectors and guardians of the cities, counties and states that we all serve.  The violent enforcement actions used by the officers in Minneapolis were far outside the boundaries of all law enforcement training, and here in the City of Seneca we will not tolerate the kind of inexcusable police violence that resulted in Mr. Floyd’s tragic death….We consider it to be a strength of our Seneca community when protesters, protected by law enforcement, march for a better future.  Those who mean to silence those voices simply cannot understand the true meaning of America and how productive change will only make it a better place for all of us.”
