Robert “Bob” Smith

Seneca- Robert “Bob” William Smith, age 80, wife of Diane Smith, passed away June 3^rd, 2024 at the Prisma Health Cottingham Hospice House.

 

Born on December 4^th, 1943 in Harvey, Illinois, he was the son of the late John Martin and Joann Lange Smith.  Bob was a United States Marine having served in Vietnam with the VMCJ-1 Marine Composite Reconnaissance Squadron. During combat operations he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal with (V) for Valor. As a civilian he worked for the Illinois Central Railroad, Metra Electric as a Supervisor for the ARCS Department. Known for his ability to fix “Anything for Everyone”, he also enjoyed fishing as a hobby, and was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.

 

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Diane Sheehan Smith of 50 years of marriage; a daughter, Kimberly Smith of Seneca, South Carolina.

 

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 11^th, 2024 from St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Seneca. The internment to follow at 2:00 pm, at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
