Post-trial reactions

Blair Stoudemire, assistant solicitor, accepted the congratulations of his fellow colleagues at the end of the week-long Oconee trial that ended with the conviction of R-L Webb and a sentence of 45 years in prison.  The jury spent nearly eight hours in deliberations, covering parts of Thursday and Friday.  And there was worry among those hoping for guilty verdicts that a hung jury was possible.  In the end, however, the 12 jurors individually affirmed their verdicts of guilty of murder and burglary first degree.  And Stoudemire said that, regardless of the time that passed the jury’s decision, “they reached a verdict that ultimately spoke the truth.”  Stoudemire was assisted by a co-assistant solicitor, Brian Livingston,  Members of the late Greg Brock’s family wanted justice and now hope to be able to put behind what happened.  Afterward in a touching courtroom moment, a member of the Webb family embraced Margaret Brock, Greg Brock’s mother.  And Mrs. Brock told 101.7/WGOG NEWS, “That was very sweet of her.”
