Opportunity seen for combined City Hall-Magistrate complex

Chris Carter, Westminster city administrator, senses opportunity for his city to work toward a combination City Hall-Magistrate complex. It would be a project that both the city and the county would finance. Carter’s presentation last night led the city council to allocate $7,500 for the cost of an architectural study, though not all on council agreed. Susan Ramey and Yousef Mefleh voted no. Ramey questioned how her city could pay its part and Mefleh said he’s not sure the county is truly willing to partner. County government is responsible for magistrates’ office space and the current, cramped offices of Westminster magistrate, Will Derrick, are considered inadequate.
