Oconee Airport survives two major events

Oconee Regional Airport came through a pair of major events in good order.  Tropical Storm Irma, at one point, blew a gust of 58 knots, but left no damage to planes and buildings.  The other major event preceded Irma.  That was the Saturday night Clemson-Auburn game in Death Valley.  The airport, across Lake Hartwell from the stadium, handled without incident 65 planes, many of them jets, carrying football fans.  Jeff Garrison, airport manager, and staff were assisted by some other Oconee County employees.  Still it made for a long Saturday, starting when the airport opened at 8 am.  Some of them were still there at the midnight hour.
