No more X-Lite guardrails on South Carolina highways

The use of the X-Lite guardrail in the U-S has been blamed for multiple highway deaths.  And for now, because of the controversy over their use, the South Carolina DOT has suspended the installation of any of the new X-Lite devices on the state’s highways.  In a statement late last week, the DOT said, “The agency is monitoring the additional crash research testing performed on these controversial devices and FWHA (Federal Highway Administration) guidance to determine the disposition of the existing devices that are in place today.”
