New shoreline management plan covers Lake Hartwell

Lake Hartwell dock owners may now use solar DC power to provide electric service to a dock.  According to that provision in the new shoreline management plan, solar power does not require re-certification every five years.  Also, according to the plan announced last week, utility rights of way and improved walkways are now considered supporting facilities for a dock, therefore can only be permitted if a dock is authorized.  All current Hartwell permit holders can expect a postcard from the Army Corps of Engineers with information on how and where to get a copy of the new shoreline plan.
