Monday’s agenda for Oconee school trustees

In a closed-door meeting Monday, Oconee school trustees are to receive an updated report on the search for property suitable to build a new Seneca middle school. Jerry Lee, board chairman, says requirements on the part of the state Department of Education governing new school construction often make the process of finding school building property laborious and complex. The executive session is planned following Monday night’s open work session of the trustees, which is scheduled to start at 6 pm in their conference room at school district headquarters in Walhalla. The open, work session agenda includes an administrators’ report on an agreement with the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center. The quest to increase the numbers of mental health counselors to serve students in all schools has taken on added emphasis as school violence incidents remain an issue across the country.
